Fresh Blood for Fresh Water
The 'Fresh Blood for Fresh Water' is a community meeting of early-career limnologists, representing not just new incomers to the field, but also those who still (or forever) feel themselves “fresh blood”. It aims to meet, to present the new results and exchange ideas with other young researchers in a friendly atmosphere.
This community (also) functions and performs best in case of high diversity; therefore, we encourage you to join the next FBFW’19 meeting in Tihany and be part of the community!
In 2019, "fresh bloods" of the MTA Centre for Ecological Research welcome the conference in Tihany, Hungary. As in general, we highly encourage students (MSc, PhD) and early career Postdocs to join the meeting, which will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience in participating at (first) an international conference, but also keep in touch with “forever young” members of the fresh blood community.
The FBFW’19 meeting, on the one hand, will keep all the good traditions from previous meetings: e.g., various sessions for talks and posters, plenary talks and workshops.
On the other hand, plenary speakers will be early-career group leaders with outstanding achievements in their fields, while workshops will cover both theory and practice and will be given by senior and advanced junior scientists.
Also this year there will be some new programs and approach:
- In previous years, most of the participants came from biology-related fields, but this year the organisers encourage scientist of water chemistry, hydrology, geology and physics too, to increase the diversity and interdisciplinarity of the freshwater-related community.
- The participants will have the opportunity for "organized” personal discussions with the Plenaries and Workshop people; primarily in non-scientific topics, specified in advance. You can find these topics on the sub-pages of the plenary speakers and the workshop people.
- The organisers will prepare some facultative "games" to help the "networking" of the participants. Hopefully, you will enjoy them.
